Hi and welcome to my site.
My name is Ruth, or Ruthie as I’m known to a hand full of close friends and family. I’m South African born, from Johannesburg in the State of Gauteng and now reside permanently in this amazing country Australia, that I’ve called home for the last 19 years.
I’m a photographer based in the southern suburbs of Sydney known as the Sutherland Shire a.k.a The Shire, with a relentless passion for capturing life around me in any shape and form.
A large part of who I am today leans toward all things creative, which was certainly not me 15 years ago, proof that circumstances can and do in fact have the ability to alter oneself in a fairly profound manner. But then I always was a big advocate for change.
Embedded within the pages on my site, are anecdotes of this life I have subscribed to. My passions, sporadic ramblings, life, observations and travel explorations, always with camera en tow and essentially the things and events that evoke my senses.
I can unequivocally confirm that my favourite indulgences are a hearty blend of road trips, with a definitive dash of nights snuggling up under the covers with a good movie, book or caressing the keys of my laptop, a pinch of quiet time gazing out across a solid mass of water whilst pondering the ups and downs of life; a sprinkle of tranquil times sipping on a hot latte, sitting in a Café that screams comfort and ambiance. Yes, I’m a complex girl with an abundance of simple tastes and a love for the simple things in life. It’s ridiculous how easy I am to please. Essentially it’s the little things that turn out to be the big things in the end and they’re what matter to me.
Like most I love to explore, a rather worn out cliché, I agree. After all, who doesn’t? I dearly love this country I now call home, and whilst I don’t have the luxury of frequent overseas vacations as I once used to, I substitute these with sporadic road trips, exploring Australia and the state I live in that has so many hidden treasures, coastal towns, abandoned history, cafe’s, walking paths, hidden beaches and more; there’s beauty and wonder all around if we stop and take the time to glance around.
It’s a crazy journey every time and I certainly take with me my love of the open road, the fresh air, the healing power of playing music really loud and my innate curiosity of looking at everything differently, finding beauty in the mundane and a camera has thankfully given me that outlet to see life through a lens and I’m grateful to surround myself with people who share in some of these passions and do indulge me on some of these road trips in creating new memories.
Please feel free to peruse the pages of my site and of course your feedback is always appreciated and I’d love to hear from you.
